Honu

Honu is the Hawaiian word for the turtle with the associated meaning of a “Long Life”. The base image is a wood cut with an acrylic and ink painting overlay.
The creative challenge was to keep a delicate feel, color and motion to the background while deploying a very determined and graphic interpretation of the turtle.

Kikakapu

Kikakpu is the Hawaiian word for Angel fish. One of the many species of reef fish in the South Pacific Islands
The creative challenge was to create a strong graphic with high color that is in keeping with the reef population of the South Pacific Islands.

KU is the name of the Hawaiian god of war and used sometimes as the god of prosperity. A dichotomy of godly job descriptions for sure.

The goal was to create a strong graphic and colorful traditional image of KU that is reflective of South Pacific art culture.
