Acta Pilati
The print is a “giclée” (a fine art print from a digital source) of an ink drawing.
The subject “Acta Pilati” (Acts of Pilot) is a sketch done previously for a future woodcut print. I believe the work is strong enough to stand alone as a separate published work. The initial thinking was to adapt an “Old Master” approach of composition and subject matter.
The imagery is depicting one of the many events central to the birth of Christianity as well as a reminder of humanities’ constant conflict between government, special interest and individual conscience.

Boche
The print is a “giclée” (a fine art print from a digital source) of a wood cut print on rice paper.
“Boche” is the nickname given to German soldiers by the French during WWI and WWII. I believe the literal translation means “hard head”.
After reading “The Road to Stalingrad”, I was compelled to create an image of a prisoner of war on a “losing side”. Britain had Dunkirk, US had the Philippines, Japan had Iwo Jima and Germany had Stalingrad.

Amongst the Thorns
The print is a “giclée” (a fine art print from a digital source) of an original photograph.
I discovered this slice of nature in a remote area of the San Elijo Lagoon in Cardiff By The Sea, California. The counterpoint of a delicate burst of color within a black hole of thorns demanded my attention.
