Sea Bird (Sketch)
The print is a “giclée” (a fine art print from a digital source) of an ink and tempera sketch.
The sketch is one of several studies in preparation for a final acrylic painting. The goal was to capture the essence of an elegant and powerful image of free flight.
Actual sketch image size: 8”x10”
Pua Aloalo Variation 1
The print is a “giclée” (a fine art print from a digital source) of a mixed media illustration.
Three mediums are employed: The base image is a Bas Relief woodcut with a 2nd medium of a color ink drawing overlay. The third medium is an actual photo of the flower taken at the San Diego Botanical Gardens and integrated as a 3rd image layer.
Pua Aloalo is Hawaiian for the hibiscus, the Hawaiian State flower. The creative challenge was to keep a delicate feel to the flower while deploying a very graphic interpretation.
Actual image size: 8”x10” / 12”x24” Triptych
Pua Aloalo Variation 2

Beach Tracts Triptych
The print is a “giclée” (a fine art print from a digital source) of a series of photographs.
Nature’s art found in beach areas are some of my most favored locations. The art objects to be discovered and explored range from the most subtle and delicate like the Beach Tracts to nature’s architecture of massive sea cliffs and caves. This contemporary form of nature art is thousands of years in the making but also in a constant state of relative change in color and form like tracts in the surf and sand. My goal was to capture nature’s “Abstract Expressionism” and frame it for the now moment.
Actual image size: 8”x10” through 15”x32” Triptych
Honu On The Run
The print is a “giclée” (a fine art print from a digital source) of a mixed media illustration with (2) mediums employed.
Honu is the Hawaiian word for the turtle with the associated meaning of a “Long Life”. The base image is a photograph of a shallow reef on the big island. The 2nd medium is an overlay color ink drawing (montage).
The creative challenge was to keep a delicate feel and color to the background while deploying a very determined and graphic interpretation of the hatchlings moving toward the relative safety of deep ocean.
Image sizes: 8.5”x11” and custom upon request.
